Shillong, Oct 16: Rangdajied United FC produced a stunning four-minute goal blitz early in the second half to completely dismantle Mylliem in their Shillong Premier League encounter at the SSA Stadium, First Ground, Polo, here today.
The match ended 4–1 in favour of Rangdajied, marking the end of Mylliem’s inaugural SPL campaign. Micky Marwein (48’), Dibormi Kassar (49’, 50’), and RT Hanson Pdang (52’) were on target for RUFC, while Alem Khongwir (68’ P) netted a consolation penalty for Mylliem after the contest had already been decided.
The victory lifted Rangdajied to fifth place with 12 points from eight games, with one match remaining. Mylliem, meanwhile, slipped to seventh with 11 points.
The first half saw plenty of chances but no goals. Mylliem started brightly, with Kevin Kurkalang linking up with Remark Kharmalki on the right during a quick counter in the eighth minute, though the latter’s shot drifted wide under defensive pressure. Kevin then missed another chance from the left flank in the 12th minute, and around the half-hour mark, a well-worked move involving Alem, Remark, and Banraplang Nongsteng ended with Banraplang firing off target.
Rangdajied, too, had their moments before the break. Micky Marwein was denied by Mylliem goalkeeper Rihoklang Khongjoh and hit the rebound against the crossbar in the 45th minute. Moments later, Dibormi struck the woodwork and Hanson missed the follow-up.
After halftime, the match turned dramatically. Within seconds of the restart, Pasborlang Khonglikong signalled Rangdajied’s intent with a shot across goal, and soon the floodgates opened. Dibormi set up Micky for the opener, then scored two quick goals himself — first with a solo run through the middle and then finishing off a cross from Freddy Jyrwa. Hanson completed the four-goal burst in the 52nd minute.
Mylliem found no way back but did earn a penalty later in the game, which Alem Khongwir converted coolly in the 68th minute.
Tomorrow, third-placed Mawlai will face bottom side Nongrim Hills at 4:30 PM.
