Nongpoh, September 12, 2025 –
As part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations, the Ri Bhoi District Sports Association (RBDSA) continued its series of sporting events today with the launch of a two-day swimming competition at Thrills Fun Park, Mawlein Mawkhan, Ri Bhoi District.
Organised by the RBDSA Swimming Committee, the event features three competition categories — Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior — aimed at encouraging participation across age groups.
Around 40 swimmers, mostly boys, have registered for the event, which began today and will conclude tomorrow.
The opening ceremony was attended by several prominent leaders, including Hasting Lyngdoh, President of the HNYF Northern Region, who attended as Chief Guest. Also present were Barnabas Manih, Vice President of HNYF Sengkmie, Ian Lyngdoh, President of the Meghalaya Swimming Association, Daminot Sylliang, Chairman of the RBDSA Swimming Committee, and Diption Ryntathiang, General Secretary of RBDSA, along with members of the RBDSA and Meghalaya Swimming Association.
Organisers said the competition aims not only to celebrate the Golden Jubilee but also to inspire young athletes to take up swimming as a sport and represent Ri Bhoi District at state and national levels.
