Nongpoh, September 12, 2025 –
In a gesture of solidarity and community support, members of the RBYF (Ri Bhoi Youth Federation) Lai Shnong Unit stepped forward to pay the school fees of five students from economically disadvantaged families in Nongpoh.
The beneficiaries, who come from struggling households unable to afford school expenses, are enrolled in three educational institutions — Nepali Secondary School Nongpoh, St. Paul Higher Secondary School Nongpoh, and Nomiwell Memorial LP School Nongpoh.
The RBYF team personally visited the schools to clear the students’ fees, ensuring they can continue their education without disruption. According to the organisation, the initiative was taken after its members received reports from the community about the students’ financial hardships.
To raise the amount, each member of the unit contributed ₹500, demonstrating a collective commitment to support the children’s education.
The team was led by the Education Secretary of the unit, Kyrmen Marwein, along with President Badonbok Lyngdoh, Secretary Vikham Marwein, and other members.
The initiative has been widely appreciated by the school authorities and local residents, who praised the RBYF for stepping in to support education in the community.
