Shillong May 15: Announcing this, Meghalaya education minister, Lahkmen Rymbui told reporters on Friday the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) will conduct the exams for the remaining subjects on the said dates and the routine will be published on Saturday.

Around 3,779 students will sit for the examinations in 59 centres across the state.

The remaining subjects include mathematics, physical education, statistics, and western music.

Sources informed that students who are from foreign countries like Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar and Bangladesh will also sit for the remaining examinations. However it was not sure if they are still staying in Meghalaya or in their own country.

Asked about the results of the SSLC and HSSLC examinations, Rymbui said that the results are likely to be declared either in the last week of June or first week of July.

Correction of papers has started since April 22.

On re-opening of educational institutes in the state, Rymbui said that the state government would wait for the Central government’s decision as the national lockdown will end on May 17.

“We already have our plans in place as we are in an abnormal situation because of this pandemic. However we would wait for the Centre’s decision,” Rymbui said, adding that the state has also reviewed the academic calendar.

Many parents complain that the initiative of e-learning or online classes did not benefit the students in the state.

On this, the Education minister said that this initiative was taken to engage the students, but real teaching and learning has to take place.

“We hope that things will turn to normal so that we can re-open all our educational institutes,” he said.
