SHILLONG, JAN 10: Justice Revati Mohite Dere was formally sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court on Saturday.
The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Meghalaya Governor C H Vijayashankar at a swearing-in ceremony held at Lok Bhavan. Her appointment follows the transfer of the outgoing Chief Justice, Justice Soumen Sen, to the Kerala High Court.
Prior to her elevation as Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court, Justice Dere served as a judge of the Bombay High Court, where she was known for her extensive experience in constitutional, criminal, and civil matters.
Her appointment marks a significant addition to the judiciary of the state, with expectations of strengthening the administration of justice in Meghalaya.
