Nongpoh, January 21: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, on Tuesday organised a district-level programme at Nongpoh to commemorate the 54th anniversary of Meghalaya’s Statehood.
The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, along with District Magistrates, officers from various government departments, government employees, students of Ri Bhoi Synod College, and other invitees.
The celebration was marked by cultural performances, including songs and presentations highlighting the historical journey of Meghalaya leading up to the attainment of full statehood.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal urged government employees across departments to discharge their duties with sincerity, efficiency and dedication, irrespective of their place of posting within the State. He emphasised that committed and honest service at the grassroots level is essential for the overall development and progress of Meghalaya.
He further stated that even in cases of transfers between districts, government servants must continue to perform their responsibilities with commitment and integrity, as collective effort and teamwork are crucial for taking the State forward on all fronts.
