Rupang Aid Shelter Programme Reaches 14th Phase, Extends Support to Underprivileged Families

Shillong, December 29, 2025: Ms. S. Khyriem, Superintendent of A. A. Thomas Orphanage, Jaiaw Lumsyntiew, Shillong, served as the Chief Guest at the Shlem Ai Jingiarap (Aid Shelter) programme organised by the Rupang Office on December 28, 2025. The programme was held at Mawkhar Christian Higher Secondary School, Mawkhar.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Monarch R. Shabong informed that the Aid Shelter initiative has successfully completed its 14th phase since its inception. He stated that the programme aims to provide immediate assistance to poor families, persons with disabilities, and individuals facing severe hardships in their daily lives.

The programme received generous support from kind-hearted individuals and well-wishers, whose contributions enabled the distribution of essential relief materials to beneficiaries during the event.

Ms. W. Khyriem, Superintendent of A. A. Thomas Orphanage, Jaiaw, attended the programme as a special guest and commended the organisers for their continued commitment to social service and community welfare.

Mr. Lamphrang Kharbani, President of the Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM), lauded the efforts of the Rupang Aid Shelter initiative and extended a donation of ₹10,000 in support of the cause. He also criticised the State Government for what he described as inadequate support for poor families and persons with disabilities in Meghalaya.

During the 14th phase of the programme, aid was distributed to ten beneficiaries from various parts of the state. They included:

The Shlem Ai Jingiarap programme continues to stand as a strong example of community solidarity and collective responsibility in supporting the underprivileged and vulnerable sections of society.
