Nongpoh, September 23, 2025: In a significant step towards preserving and promoting traditional Khasi healing practices, renowned herbal medicine practitioner Dr. Philing Rynjah today led a meeting of fellow healers at the Umsning Auditorium Hall, resulting in the formation of the Rynjah Herbal Care Society.
The newly formed society aims to create a collective platform for Khasi medicine practitioners to share knowledge, provide effective herbal treatments to patients, and spread awareness about the proper use of traditional remedies. Dr. Philing Rynjah has been appointed Founder President, while Ms. Bina Lyngdoh Marshillong will serve as Secretary, alongside other members committed to the initiative.
During the event, Dr. Rynjah showcased several herbal formulations he has developed for treating common ailments, explaining their preparation, usage, and benefits. He also stressed that these remedies, when stored properly, retain their potency indefinitely, making them reliable options for patients seeking alternative treatments.
Local health enthusiasts, including Mr. Sebrin Kharsyntiew and Mr. Strandfield Nongbri, lauded the initiative, calling these remedies a natural blessing and a living testament to ancestral wisdom. They emphasized the importance of safeguarding and promoting Khasi herbal knowledge for the benefit of the community.
