Shillong, Sep 27: Sawmer recorded a significant 3-0 win over Mylliem in the Shillong Premier League (SPL) 2025 at the SSA Stadium, First Ground, Polo, moving up from eighth to fourth place with 9 points. Mylliem remain in the relegation zone at ninth with 5 points.
The match began cautiously, with both sides probing for weaknesses without taking major risks. Mylliem’s Alem Khongwir missed an early chance in the ninth minute, while Sawmer’s Khrawkupar Tamu, completely unmarked, headed a corner wide.
The deadlock was broken in the 38th minute when Michaelson Kurbah converted a simple tap-in following an assist from Bickyson Kharkongor. He added his second goal in the 54th minute at the far post, assisted by Banman Roy Nongsiej, securing a brace. Khainkupar Iawphniaw put the game beyond doubt in the 77th minute with a precise shot from the edge of the box, marking his fourth goal of the season and strengthening Sawmer’s position in the SPL standings.
For Mylliem, this defeat marked their second consecutive loss, extending a goal drought of over 225 minutes. In contrast, Sawmer celebrated their second straight win and second clean sheet, with new goalkeeper Jeffrey G Jyrwa impressing between the posts.
Schedule will feature the final of the SSA Second Division 2025, with SPL action resuming on Monday when Malki take on Nangkiew Irat at 4:30 PM.
