School student from Mawlai wins Jury Award for “Learning with Images” in New Delhi

Shillong Mar 5: Arkie Nongrang of Mayqueen Secondary School, Mawlai won the Jury Award for the “Learning with Images” competition held at New Delhi recently.

The Vigyan Prasad, a Department belonging to the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, in collaboration with the Bichatra Pathshala (a Kolkata based NGO) held the competition on the topic “Learning with Images” on February 16 and 17 at Amity International School, Noida.

Various schools from around the country took part in the competition. An impressive presentation on Water Conservation given by Arkie Nongrang of Mayqueen Secondary School, Mawlai Nongpdeng won the Jury Award.

The Vigyan Prasar holds this competition annually, and this year, a school from Shillong has taken the prize.

Principal of Mayqueen Secondary School, S. Nongkhlaw expressed her deep appreciation and joy and according to her, schools from the state and from the North East have become progressive and are now at par with the rest of the country.

“There is an imperative need to love and make paramount efforts at work in order to succeed in life. We work not for our own acclamation, but for the good of the society as a whole,” Nongkhlaw said.

Arkie, who represented the school, thanked Rympei Welfare Society under the leadership of Pyndap Lawriniang, which has opened up a forum for him and for the school to take part in such event.

He also urged other teachers and students to go forward and be part of various such competitions held by other Departments of the Central Government and the State Government.
