Shillong, May 29: The Acting Syiem of Hima Mylliem, Ainam Manik Syiem on Wednesday said that the proposal to grant NOC to the Border Security Force (BSF) to acquire land is pending with the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
Syiem reacted after allegations made by the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) that the Raid Marwet and the Hima Mylliem have decided to sell a land measuring 1,000 hectares at Lakhra for Rs 1,000 crore to the BSF.
Syiem told reporters that a land owner after getting NOC from neighbouring villages for selling the land to the BSF, had approached the Raid Marwet for permission.
He said that the Syiem of Raid Marwet had accordingly forwarded the letter of the land owner to the Hima Mylliem.
“After receiving this letter, an Executive Dorbar of the Hima had submitted the same to the executive committee of the KHADC for its consideration. Till today the Hima is yet to get any response from the Council,†he said.
Stating that it is not correct to make any allegation without knowing, the Syiem of Hima Mylliem asked the KSU to refrain from such practice in future, and they should seek clarification from the Hima first before making such unfounded allegations.
