Shillong, Dec 6: The semifinal lineup of the SSA Champions Cup 2025 is now confirmed after Langsning delivered a commanding performance to thrash Mawkasiang 6-0 in the final Group A match at the SSA Stadium, First Ground, Polo, here on Friday evening.
Earlier in the day, Nongkseh defeated Mawkriah West 6-1 in a Group B fixture.
The emphatic win propelled Langsning to the top of Group A, tied on 10 points with Meghalaya Police but ahead on goal difference (+10 to +7). Nongkseh, meanwhile, needed at least nine goals to displace Shillong Lajong from the Group B summit but settled for second place on goal difference (+16 to +13), behind the unbeaten Lajong.
With the group stage now concluded, Langsning will meet Nongkseh in the first semifinal on Tuesday, followed by Shillong Lajong versus Meghalaya Police on Wednesday. Both fixtures are scheduled to kick off at 4:30 PM.
Mawkasiang entered the contest with a chance to qualify but were outclassed by a clinical Langsning side. Donlad Diengdoh led the charge with a hat-trick (40’, 64’, 82’), while substitute Samuel Phawa contributed a brace (55’, 60’). Nelson Rymbai opened the scoring in the 32nd minute.
In the earlier fixture, goals from Chesterpaul Lyngdoh (23’, 55’), Kitboklang Pale (25’), Khrawkupar Jana (65’), Kynsaibor Lhuid (68’) and Baiaikara Swer (84’) secured Nongkseh’s dominant result. Khainkupar Iawphniaw scored the lone goal for Mawkriah West (79’).
The four semifinalists—all among the strongest teams in the competition—emerged from a field of 10 clubs representing divisions from SPL to the Fourth Division. Lower-division teams delivered spirited performances and memorable moments, gaining invaluable experience against some of Meghalaya’s top football talent.
With three semifinalists already having lifted SSA trophies this season—Langsning as SPL champions, Shillong Lajong as SSA Super Cup winners, and Nongkseh as First Division champions—the knockout phase promises to be intense. Notably, First Division sides have proven their mettle, with MLP holding Langsning to a 1-1 draw and Nongkseh earning the same result against Lajong during the group stage.
The stakes are now higher than ever as the top four teams battle for the Champions Cup crown, with expectations rising for a thrilling semifinal showdown.
