Shillong, May 14, 2025 — In a landmark moment for India’s hairdressing industry, Lalruattluanga, a hairstylist from Mapui’s Salon in Shillong, became the first Indian ever to win the ‘Color Visionary’ title at the Wella Professionals TrendVision 2024–25 International Grand Finale held in Malta. The win marks a significant milestone for Indian hair artistry on the global stage.

The TrendVision Award, hosted annually by Wella Professionals, is one of the world’s most prestigious platforms for recognizing creativity and technical mastery in hairdressing. This year’s international finale was part of Destination 2025—a three-day global celebration that brought together more than 1,000 hairdressers and Wella ambassadors from 52 countries. Amid this international showcase of talent and innovation, Lalruattluanga’s artistic vision stood out, earning India its first-ever global title in the competition’s history.

Lalruattluanga’s journey to global acclaim began at the Indian Finale of the TrendVision Awards held at Andaz, New Delhi, where he competed against 20 of the nation’s top stylists. With over 66,000 entries from across India, his work earned him one of the coveted national spots in the Color category, securing his place at the Grand Finale in Malta.

His award-winning entry drew inspiration from the golden sunsets of Shillong, aligning with this year’s theme, “Golden Hour.” Using Wella Professionals Koleston Perfect Me+, he created a hair color look that captured the warmth and tranquility of dusk through soft root shadows and blended highlights.

“The Golden Hour reminds us to pause and find peace… I wanted to reflect that emotion in every strand,” said Lalruattluanga. “This win feels surreal. It’s not just a personal achievement—it’s a celebration of our culture, our landscape, and our artistic voice.”

Pravesh Saha, General Manager of Wella India & South Asia, praised the historic win:

“Lalruattluanga’s achievement is not only a proud moment for India but also a powerful reminder of the immense talent rooted in every corner of our country. He has put Indian hairdressing on the global map.”

As Wella Professionals continues to empower stylists through education, innovation, and global platforms, this victory heralds a new era for Indian talent in the international salon industry. Lalruattluanga’s triumph is more than just a trophy—it’s a beacon of inspiration for future generations of Indian creatives in the beauty space.
