Shillong, November 13: Shillong Lajong FC emerged champions of the inaugural SSA Super Cup 2025 after defeating arch-rivals Rangdajied United FC 3–1 in an exciting final played at the SSA Stadium, First Ground, Polo, on Thursday evening.
The match, witnessed by thousands of spectators, saw Lajong overturn an early deficit to secure victory. Denelson Pyngrope gave Rangdajied the lead in the 25th minute, but Iohborlang L. Lyngkhoi equalised for Lajong from the penalty spot just before half-time.
In the second half, Wilbert Marbaniang—later named Player of the Final—scored twice in the 55th and 72nd minutes to seal the win for Shillong Lajong.
The final was graced by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla, Adviser to the Chief Minister Paul Lyngdoh, and SSA President Banteidor Lyngdoh.

As champions, Lajong received a cash prize of ₹2 lakh, while runners-up Rangdajied United took home ₹1 lakh. During the prize distribution ceremony, Langsning FC were also felicitated for winning the Shillong Premier League 2025, earning ₹6 lakh as champions, while Lajong, as runners-up, received ₹3 lakh. Loving Suting of Mawlai was honoured as Top Scorer with seven goals.
The Chief Minister also unveiled the trophy of the upcoming SSA Champions Cup, a new league-cum-knockout tournament featuring the top two teams from each of the SSA’s five men’s divisions, set to begin in late November.
Meanwhile, the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister announced an additional ₹10 lakh in financial support from the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs to the SSA for the successful conduct of its football leagues.
In a thrilling contest, Lajong’s second-half dominance and Wilbert’s brace ensured their supremacy over local rivals, cementing their place as the first-ever SSA Super Cup champions.
