Shillong | July 26, 2025 — Shillong Lajong FC launched their Durand Cup 2025 campaign in sensational style, delivering a crushing 6–0 victory over Malaysian Armed Forces FC in front of a roaring home crowd at the J.N. Sports Complex, Shillong.

The atmosphere was electric as thousands of local fans turned up to support the home side, and Lajong did not disappoint. From the opening whistle, the team displayed excellent coordination, relentless pressing, and clinical finishing, firmly stamping their authority on the game.

Rising star Everbrightson Sana Mylliempdah opened the scoring in the 11th minute, setting the tempo for what would become a rout. The second half saw Phrangki Buam net a quick-fire brace in the 47th and 49th minutes, further widening the gap and asserting Lajong’s dominance.

Veteran midfielder D. Tongper added the finishing touches with two late goals in the 87th and 90+4th minutes, rounding off a remarkable team effort and sealing one of the most convincing wins of the tournament so far.

The emphatic win has not only bolstered Lajong’s confidence but also raised expectations for a deep run in one of India’s oldest and most prestigious football tournaments.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and Sports Minister Shakliar Warjri, who congratulated the team and praised their energetic and disciplined performance.
