Shillong, July 29: In continuation with the general public notice issued on May 31 and order passed by the Meghalaya High Court on June 28, the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) has issued fresh notices to all residents of the Sweeper’s Colony (Them ïew Mawlong) directing them to furnish documents before the board’s office within one month.
The residents were asked to submit all information to the designated officers of the Board before August 30.
The Shillong Municipal Board had earlier issued notices on May 31 to over 300 households of the Sweeper’s Colony and asked them to reply within one month from June 3 to July 3.
However not a single resident submitted information to the Board.
An order passed by the division bench of Chief Justice Ajay Kumar Mittal and Justice HS Thangkhiew on June 28, after hearing a review petition filed by the state government against the Harijan Panchayat Committee/Punjabi Harijan Colony & others had directed the residents of Them ïew Mawlong to furnish the requisite information to the state government.
The Court also said that directed the occupants/residents of the concerned area to cooperate in furnishing the requisite information to the State.
A total of 184 employees and their families have been identified as legal settlers which include families of 128 employees of the SMB and 56 others working in different departments of the Meghalaya government.
