Shillong, May 17 : A street art festival in the city under the direction of renowned artist from Mumbai, Ranjit Dahiya has inspired local artists to showcase their talent and learn more about painting techniques.
The festival known as “Shillong Street Art Fest-2018†is being participated by Dahiya who is from the Bollywood Art Project (BAP) and who had also painted India’s tallest mural (230 feet height, and 30 feet width) of Bollywood actor, Amitabh Bachchan in Mumbai.
Dahiya arrived in Shillong one week ago
​​and took part in the street art ​festival.
Dahiya will now sketch veteran Bollywood actor, Mithun Chakraborty at Lower Lachumier.
The renowned artist while urging the youth to showcase their talent in fine art, also called upon the state government to set up fine arts institute.
“Such institute will help the youth become professional artists by provide proper training to them,†he said.

​who formed ​a group ​“Can’t Stop Art and Craft,†with other artist friends, said that lot of techniques have been learnt from seasoned artists like Dahiya and Sanjib Roy from Assam​ during the festival​.
“We also learnt how to use shoe polish brush in painting
​, besides other ideas​,†Lyndem said, adding that 15 local youths have benefited from the street art festival.
Lyndem said that the youth especially those who have the talent in painting can become professional artists​, and urged them to take up painting as a career.​
