Shillong, Sept 15: The quiet village of Nongrah Nonglum has been left reeling in shock and grief following the tragic death of Insaphira Lyngdoh Mawnai, daughter of Bah Gowell Lyngdoh and Ms. Kong Labynta Lyngdoh Mawnai.
The young girl was reported missing early Sunday morning, between 7 and 8 AM, sparking immediate concern from her family and neighbors. Village leaders and residents mobilized quickly, launching a search operation that continued throughout the day.
Despite the efforts of volunteers and community members, news of her death sent waves of sorrow across the village, highlighting both the vulnerability of children and the collective pain experienced by the community.
Speaking to the media, Kong Asorphilina Lyngdoh Mawnai, the grandmother of the deceased, made an emotional plea:
“I urge anyone who has any information or has witnessed anything to come forward and report it to our household or to the village authorities. This tragedy is a source of immense grief for our family and for the entire village.”
She stressed that the incident is not only a personal tragedy but a wake-up call for greater vigilance and safety measures for children.
The Dorbar Shnong (village council), still coming to terms with the shocking loss, has called for collective unity and cooperation. Community members have been providing support to the bereaved family and assisting in the verification of facts surrounding the case.
Authorities have urged villagers to remain calm, vigilant, and to share any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
