Shillong, Oct, 6: Another five MDCs of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) today decided to extend their support to the National People’s Party (NPP)-led executive committee in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
The letter of support submitted to the KHADC chief Hispreaching Son Shylla on Friday was signed by the party’s PP leader James Ban Basaiawmoit, Banteidor Lyngdoh, who is also a cabinet minister, Hadrian Lyngdoh, Morningstar Mawsor and Albinus Lyngdoh.
This also came two days ahead before the PDF could take a final call on the suspension of three of its MDCs – Latiplang Kharkongor, James Sylliang and Blanding Warjri – for their anti-party activities by supporting the present executive committee.
Earlier, the PDF had extended the suspension order against the three MDCs for another one month which will expire on October 7.
Terming it as a boost to the Khasi Hills Democratic Alliance (KHDA)-led executive committee, KHADC chief HS Shylla said with the support of the five PDF MDCs, the strength of the EC has now gone up to 27 in the 29-member House.
The PDF is having 11 MDCs. Shylla however said that now only former CEM Pynshngain N Syiem and Grace Mary Kharpuri who are yet to come forward and extend their support to the EC.
“However, I have spoken to Kharpuri overphone and she may also extend her support to the EC,†he said.
The KHDA-led EC is having the support of 6 UDP, 8 PDF, 4 HSPDP, 4 NPP, 4 Congress and one KHNAM.
