Shillong,Feb 19: KHADC chief HS Shylla on Tuesday said that former Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) president, Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit is a “Congress man”.

Speaking to reporters here, Shylla, who is a sitting MDC of Nongkrem said, “I have always maintained that MUDA means ‘Mukul under Dealing with Ardent’ and now this has been established from the fact that he is supporting the Congress.”

He said the upcoming MDC elections in Nongkrem constituency is a fight between the sitting legislator Lambor Malngiang and Ardent, who is also the former legislator of the constituency. According to him, Ardent has been campaigning for the Congress candidate in Nongkrem.

Meanwhile, the KHADC chief, who has decided not to contest the MDC elections, has also categorically denied the allegation that he is urging the people of Nongkrem to support the United Democratic Party (UDP).

“This is totally misleading and untrue as I want to leave it to the wisdom of the people to elect the best person to represent them in the KHADC,” he said.
