Shillong, Nov 22: The village of Shyntor Bulia in Them Ri-Bhoi District is preparing with great enthusiasm for the inaugural Shyntor Bulia Festival, scheduled from December 11 to 13, 2025. The event marks a historic milestone for the community as it aims to highlight the village’s cultural heritage, scenic landscape and the collective spirit of development.
The newly appointed Rangbah Shnong, Bah Rowel Mawphiang, informed that preparations are underway in full swing. Various committees have been constituted, while volunteers have started clearing pathways, cleaning the surroundings and arranging logistics to ensure a smooth and successful festival.
Former Rangbah Shnong Bah Edarius Kyrsian reflected on the challenges faced by the village over the years, including limited road connectivity, inadequate public amenities and insufficient access to healthcare.
“The village is like an island surrounded by two major rivers—Wah Umsiang and Wah Umsha. The scenery is beautiful, but it also brings difficulties, especially during the monsoon,” he said.
Despite these hurdles, the upcoming festival has ignited a renewed sense of hope among the community. Residents view the event as an opportunity to showcase the village’s potential, strengthen social bonds and draw attention to developmental needs.
