Shillong, November 12, 2025: The Rongjeng Welfare Foundation has officially announced that it will host the Shyntor Festival 2025 from December 11 to 13, 2025, at Shyntor Bulia Village in Ri Bhoi District. The festival is being organised in collaboration with the Dorbar Shnong Shyntor and its partner organisations.
The three-day event aims to celebrate the rich living traditions of the Khasi community, featuring cultural music, indigenous dances, local cuisine, traditional art forms, and exhibitions that promote sustainable tourism and community participation.
Addressing a press briefing, Edarius Kyrsian, former Rangbah Shnong (village headman) of Shyntor, said that the primary objective of organising the festival is to promote community development and raise resources to support key initiatives such as road construction, school renovation, and other social welfare projects.

He added that Shyntor Village currently comprises around 65 households with approximately 450 residents, most of whom rely on agriculture and small-scale trades for their livelihood.
Meanwhile, Rosanna Lyngdoh, Project Manager of the Rongjeng Welfare Foundation, highlighted that Shyntor Festival 2025 will also serve as a platform to showcase rural entrepreneurship, enabling local artisans and farmers to connect with wider markets. She further mentioned that the foundation is working closely with government departments and private stakeholders to ensure the event promotes eco-friendly tourism practices and benefits the local community directly.
Lyngdoh expressed optimism that the festival will not only draw visitors from across Meghalaya and neighbouring states but also help strengthen grassroots cultural identity and unity among the people of Shyntor and nearby villages.
