Six Years’ Imprisonment for Two in NDPS Case

SHILLONG, Oct 30: Two individuals, Marvinson Jyrwa and Skhemkupar Massar, have been convicted and sentenced to six years of rigorous imprisonment for offences under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The judgment, delivered by E. Shabong, Special Judge (NDPS), East Khasi Hills, on October 27, stated that both accused are to undergo rigorous imprisonment for six years and pay a fine of ₹60,000 each. In default of payment, they will serve an additional one year of rigorous imprisonment.

The conviction was made under Sections 21(b) and 29 of the NDPS Act, read with Section 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act.

The case, registered under Laitdiengiri Police Station Case No. 16(02)2017, was investigated by UBSI Anderson Jyrwa.
