Mawkyrwat, October 8, 2025: The Synjuk ki Nongsynshar Shnong Warsan Lyngdoh Area (SNSWLA) met with Deputy Commissioner B. Mawlong of South West Khasi Hills District today to discuss the persistent neglect of development in the Warsan Lyngdoh region.
During the meeting, the Synjuk highlighted several pressing issues, particularly the lack of proper road connectivity, which continues to hinder daily life and regional progress. Many villages in the area remain without motorable roads, forcing residents to travel long distances on foot.
The delegation also requested the establishment of a local office of the Mawkyrwat Roads Division (MRB) in the Warsan Lyngdoh area, as well as the creation of a Community & Rural Development (C&RD) Block, preferably at Phlangdilion or Umdohlun, to bring administrative and welfare services closer to the people.
Additionally, the Synjuk urged the DC to upgrade Nongtynniaw Upper Primary School to a Secondary School, improving access to education for children in surrounding villages.
Speaking after the meeting, Mr. P.K. Bani, Headman of Mawjai and Secretary of SNSWLA, along with Mr. Sandy Marthong, spokesperson, expressed satisfaction with the discussion. They noted that the DC assured he would look into all the concerns raised and take them up seriously.
The Synjuk expressed hope that the long-standing aspirations of the Warsan Lyngdoh community will soon be addressed.
