Shillong, April 8: The Hon’ble Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Thomas A. Sangma, on Wednesday conducted a high-level inspection of the new Assembly building construction site at Mawdiangdiang.
Accompanied by senior officials and technical experts, the Speaker assessed the quality and pace of work as the landmark project approaches its final stages of completion. During the visit, he expressed satisfaction with the steady progress, stating that construction is proceeding smoothly in line with established timelines.
The inspection team reviewed key components of the project, including the structural work of the main Assembly hall and the integration of essential utilities.

The delegation included Secretary Malthus S. Sangma, Advisor (Legislation) Dr. Andrew Simons, and Deputy Secretary Raja Kharpuri, along with senior officers and engineers from the Public Works Department.
They were joined by the project’s chief architects and contractors, with discussions focusing on technical aspects and addressing potential bottlenecks at the site.
Reaffirming his commitment to timely completion, Speaker Sangma emphasised the importance of coordinated efforts among various departments to ensure the successful delivery of the project.
