Shillong, Sept 13:
Defending champions Shillong Lajong FC staged a dramatic late comeback to hold Langsning FC to a 2-2 draw in a thrilling Shillong Premier League 2025 encounter at the SSA Stadium, First Ground, Polo, on Saturday.
Langsning were just seconds away from a crucial victory that would have put them at the top of the table, but Lajong struck deep into stoppage time to snatch a point.
The high-octane clash between the two local giants began with Langsning taking an early lead through Dajiedlang Wanshnong in the 5th minute. Nikelson Bina, coming on as a second-half substitute, doubled their advantage in the 57th minute by turning in a corner kick.

Lajong, however, refused to back down. Riborlang L Lyngkhoi pulled one back with a stunning long-range strike in the 62nd minute, setting the stage for a tense finale. Langsning held on until the sixth minute of added time, when a goalmouth scramble saw Mebannangkiew Thabah slot home the equaliser from close range, sparking jubilant celebrations from the defending champions.
The result leaves Lajong in third place with nine points, tied with Mawlai but behind on goals scored (10 to 12), while Langsning stay fourth with eight points.
The match was marked by end-to-end action, with Langsning’s aggressive start paying early dividends and Lajong showing resilience to claw their way back. Langsning will rue missed opportunities and their inability to close out the game, while Lajong will take heart from their fighting spirit.
The Shillong Premier League action continues Monday, with Mawlai SC set to face Mylliem SC at 4:30 PM.
