Shillong, Oct 14: The Shillong Sports Association (SSA) held its annual general meeting (AGM) here on October 11, where it was announced that the SSA is planning to revive the Shillong Games — featuring five sporting disciplines — tentatively by December this year.
SSA President Banteidor Lyngdoh, MLA, chaired the meeting, which was attended by SSA office bearers and representatives from affiliated clubs.
The session began with a two-minute silence in memory of the late SS Rapthap, SSA Vice-President, who passed away earlier this year.
During the meeting, SSA General Secretary Dipshon L Nongbri presented the annual general report for 2024–25, followed by the presentation of the audited financial report by Treasurer Prosper Warjri.
Members suggested introducing individual awards such as Player of the Tournament, Best Goalkeeper, and Top Scorer for the SSA’s football tournaments. The association also announced the appointment of P. Rangslang of Mawpat SC as the female representative on the SSA Council.
In addition, the SSA assured members that it will continue to organize annual football tournaments for children and youth to nurture grassroots talent.
The AGM also discussed the implementation of the All India Football Federation’s Central Registration System (CRS) for players and the formulation of guidelines to regulate local tournaments, aimed at ensuring greater professionalism and standardization within the sport.
