State gears up preparations to welcome President next week

Shillong Oct 31: Meghalaya has geared up preparations to welcome President, Ram Nath Govind to the state next.

This is the maiden visit of the President to Meghalaya after assuming office as the 14th President of the country India on July 25, 2017.

The President will attend the XXVI convocation of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) as chief guest on November 4

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (Traffic) informed that normal traffic flow will be affected on Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon and from 3 pm to 5 pm due to mock drill which will be conducted in view of the visiting VVIP to Shillong.

The same exercise will be carried out on November 4 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.

The President is likely to arrive on Sunday.

The SP (traffic) requested all motorists to avoid travelling in the main roads of Shillong city during the said period of date and time, adding that all types of emergency services will not be affected by the said exercise.
