Shillong, Apr 12: Senior Congress leader Charles Pyngrope said that the state may lose tourists due to lack of basic amenities like public toilets in the tourist spots.
Participating in the general discussion on the budget during the Assembly here on Thursday, Pyngrope said that this important aspect probably has missed the eyes of the Tourism department.
Raising his concern over the lack of rehabilitation centres for drug addicts in the state, the MLA from Nongthymmai constituency urged the state government to establish such centres to rehabilitate drug addicts which are increasing in the state.
“Today due to lack of other avenues children are resorting to drugs and destroying their lives,†he added.
Further, Pyngrope also suggested the need to build care centres for stray animals even as he added that people who wants to keep a pet at home can adopt one from such homes.
