Shillong, Apr 23: The Meghalaya State Planning Board will review programmes under the Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Programme (IBDLP) on May 7.

At the same time, the Board has also asked various departments that involved in the implementation of IBDLP to provide reports on various activities and amount sanctioned in the last seven years.

Chairman of the board, Lambor Malngiang on Monday said that the Board would the review the programmes on May 7 where chief minister, Conrad K Sangma will also attend the meeting.

He said that the departments have been asked to submit various reports within May 15, and after studying in details, the Board would come out with a white paper on the IBDLP and submit the same to the government.

The IBDLP was initiated by the previous Congress-led government under the leadership of former chief minister, Mukul Sangma.

Malngiang said that certain projects that were not identical and could not benefit the people of the state would be done away with.

On the functioning of the Board, Malngiang said, “We wanted to reduce political appointees as much as we can, but the Board would have an MLA as co-chairman besides having experts like economists, environmentalists, academicians, agriculturists and officials of the state government.

“We want the planning board to be a different one as it relates to the state of affairs and change the style of functioning and become more proactive in different subjects,” Malngiang said.
