Stop meddling with ADCs, KHADC chairman tells Govt

Sillong, Dec 2: Chairman of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Pynshngain N Syiem has slammed the state government for continuing to pursue with its recommendation for Administrator’s Rule in the Council, and asked it to stop meddling with the Autonomous District Councils (ADCs).

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Syiem said he failed to understand why the state government is still discussing about the administrator’s rule when the election of the new CEM was done as per rule.

“If they so much wanted to remove the present UDF-led executive committee, let them get 20 MDCs to call for a special session rather than doing politics in this manner,” he said while asking the state government to stop meddling with the ADCs.

According to him, the whole situation is not a conflict between the council and the state government, but it is the rules against the state government.

“If they have so much problem then they should regularize the convention and come up with the rules,” he added.
