SHILLONG, Apr 7: Lahkmen Rymbui has attributed the strong performance of students in the SSLC examinations this year to sustained government efforts in prioritising the education sector.

Speaking to reporters, the Minister noted that the results reflect significant improvement, with only around 6,000 students not clearing the examination out of the total number who appeared.

“The results speak for themselves,” Rymbui said, highlighting the positive outcome of ongoing reforms.

He also encouraged students who were unsuccessful to take advantage of the upcoming supplementary examinations conducted by the Meghalaya Board of School Education.

“There’s always a second chance… I wish those who didn’t make it to take this opportunity,” he said.

Rymbui pointed out that students from a wide range of institutions, including those in rural areas, have performed well this year—an indication of broader improvements in the education system.

“This speaks volumes about the efforts of schools and the government to improve education,” he added.

The Minister credited several government initiatives, including the introduction of help books and targeted academic interventions, for contributing to the improved results.

“Since 2018, we’ve prioritised education, addressing concerns and transforming the system for the betterment of students,” he said.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Rymbui stated that efforts will continue to further strengthen the education system.

“We’ll continue to address shortcomings, ensuring our students receive the best,” he said.
