SHILLONG, Oct 30: Meghalaya stormed into the semifinals of the Sub-Junior Boys National Football Championship 2025–26 (Tier 2) after a convincing 4–0 victory over Himachal Pradesh in their final Group C match held at Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, on Thursday morning.
Star forward Marbiang Marwein continued his outstanding form, scoring a first-half hat-trick in the 8th, 39th, and 45’+2 minutes, taking his total tally to nine goals in the tournament. His remarkable performance also earned him a third consecutive Player of the Match award.
The fourth goal for Meghalaya came in the 62nd minute through Wanpyndapbor Nongsiej, sealing another dominant display from the side.
With earlier emphatic wins over Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh, Meghalaya, coached by Dapmon Tariang, finished as Group C toppers with a perfect record of three wins from three matches, collecting nine points in total.
The team will next face Telangana, another unbeaten side from Group A, in the first semifinal on November 1 at 8:30 a.m.
