Shillong, Mar 27: Substitute candidate of the Congress from Shillong Lok Sabha constituency, Kennedy C. Khyriem withdrew his nominations on Wednesday.

Khyriem filed his nominations as substitute candidate for Congress nominee, Vincent H. Pala.

After the withdrawal of Khyriem, now the candidates in the fray for the Shillong seat are Pala, Jemino Mawthoh of the United Democratic Party, Sanbor Shullai of the BJP and two Independents, Samuel Hashah and Romeo Phira Rani.

The nominations of two candidates, THS Bonney of Khun Hynñiewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) and Justice Kharbasanti of CPI are pending for further examination by the Returning Officer following complaints lodged against them.
