Shillong, Aug 2: Three government bungalows would be soon occupied by ministers of the present MDA government once vacated by two Opposition MLAs – Dr Mukul Sangma and his younger brother, Zenith Sangma, and former Assembly Speaker, Abu Taher Mondal.
Dr Mukul is yet to vacate the Chief Minister’s bungalow at Polo Hill. His brother, Zenith is also occupying the government bungalow. Mondal is moving out of the bungalow at Laitumkhrah.
Sources said that there ministers who are ye to get government bungalow including the chief minister, Conrad K Sangma since, Dr Mukul who is now the leader of Opposition is still occupying the house.
Dr Mukul will move to the bungalow which was earlier stayed by former Chief Minister, D.D. Lapang, opposite Shillong Municipal Board office.
Zenith is still an MLA, while Mondal lost the election from Phulbari.
Sources informed that among the VIPs who occupied the government bungalows, only former Deputy Chief Minister, Dr R.C. Laloo and former minister, Martin M. Danggo were quickest to vacate the government bungalows.
Dr Laloo moved out of the government house soon after the Assembly elections. Dr Laloo is no longer an MLA as he did not contest this year’s Assembly elections from Jowai constituency.
Danggo who was the minister in the previous government vacated the government bungalow after he was re-elected as Congress MLA from Ranikor constituency in March this year.
