The Principal of Gorkha Pathshala Higher Secondary School, Amit Thapa, has expressed immense joy and pride after the institution emerged as the top performer in the Meghalaya Board of School Education SSLC examinations.

In addition to producing the state topper, three more students from the institution have secured positions in the Top 20 merit list, underscoring the school’s strong academic foundation and the consistent dedication of its students and faculty.

Located in the heart of Iewduh Market in Shillong, the school is currently celebrating 150 years of service in education, making this achievement even more significant.

Speaking to the media, Principal Amit Thapa expressed immense joy and pride over the accomplishment. He noted that the success carries special meaning as it coincides with the institution’s historic 150-year celebration.

“This achievement is the greatest honour for us at a time when we are celebrating 150 years of our institution. Our students have truly demonstrated excellence and hard work, making us all proud,” Thapa said.

He emphasized that the success is not just an individual accomplishment but a result of the collective efforts of teachers, students, and parents. Highlighting the challenges faced by many learners, he pointed out that a significant number of students come from economically weaker backgrounds but have overcome obstacles through determination and perseverance.

Thapa further noted that the school adopts a systematic and adaptive approach to academics, including regular assessments and tailored teaching methods to meet students’ needs.

“We continuously monitor the performance of our students and adjust our teaching methods accordingly. This has greatly contributed to our success,” he added.

The Principal also stressed that the institution aims to nurture not only academically successful students but responsible citizens who can contribute meaningfully to society.

He concluded by reaffirming the school’s commitment to inclusive and holistic education. “We aim to deliver holistic education and nurture students to excel not only academically but also in all aspects of life,” he said.
