Shillong, Apr 23: The body of a youth who died after falling into a deep gorge from a tourist spot at Laitlum village was recovered on Monday.

Laitlum village in East Khasi Hills district is one of the attractive tourist spots, where Bollywood movie, Rock On-2 was shot there.

Sources said that the incident occurred on Sunday around 4.30 pm. Sources said that the youth identified as Subrata Jamatia (20 ) went to Laitlum for site seeing on Sunday along with some friends.

Jamatia hailed from Amlakbari village under Gomati district in Tripura.

The body was recovered after a long search by police with the help of local people on Monday morning.

According to police, Jamatia fell down after he went to collect his helmet that rolled off the cliff.

While collecting his helmet, he himself fell down in the deep gorge.

The body was brought to Shillong Civil Hospital for postmortem.
