Shillong, November 13, 2025: In view of the upcoming Cherry Blossom Festival 2025, the Office of the Superintendent of Police (Traffic), East Khasi Hills, has issued a traffic advisory to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and public safety during the festival days.
The festival, which will be held from November 14 to 16 at Ward’s Lake, Polo Grounds, and other key venues across the city, is expected to attract a large number of visitors and tourists.
To facilitate better traffic management, the following arrangements have been made:
- No-Entry Zones:
Entry of vehicles towards Ward’s Lake from Police Bazar Junction will be restricted during festival hours.
No entry for heavy vehicles and taxis towards Polo Grounds from 5 PM to 11 PM during event days.
Khyndailad (Police Bazar) and adjoining roads will remain pedestrian-only zones during the evenings.
- Designated Parking Areas:
Visitors to Ward’s Lake may park their vehicles at State Central Library Parking, Fire Brigade Ground, and Additional Secretariat Parking.
Visitors to Polo Grounds may use parking at J.N. Stadium, Polo, and Mawlai Nongrim Hills Parking Area.
Local residents are advised to use public transport where possible to avoid congestion.
- Traffic Diversions:
Vehicles coming from Upper Shillong towards Police Bazar will be diverted via Barik Point – Malki – Dhankheti.
Vehicles from G.S. Road may be routed through Anjalee Point – Laitumkhrah – Dhankheti to ease congestion near Ward’s Lake.
- Public Advisory:
Festivalgoers are urged to follow traffic signage and instructions from police personnel on duty. Carpooling and the use of public transport are highly encouraged.
