Shillong, July 31: Trucks will not be allowed anymore to ply on national highway via Shillong city every Saturday from 7 am to 10 pm with effect from August 4 in order to ease traffic congestion in the City.

East Khasi Hills district Superintendent of Police (Traffic), B. J. Laloo said on Tuesday that in order to decongest the national highway and internal roads in Shillong City, “No Entry” will be imposed from 7am to 10pm every Saturday of the week for all trucks wanting to enter Shillong City.

The order will come into effect from August 4 till further orders.

Shillong city has witnessed heavy traffic jam everyday day especially on holidays like Saturday.

There has been heavy rush of visitors particularly tourists from various parts of the country who visited various tourist spots in East Khasi Hills.
