Two new positive COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya

Shillong, 16 Apr 20: Meghalaya has two more positive COVID-19 cases taking the total of positive cases to eight, and one death.

This was confirmed by chief minister Conrad K Sangma on twitter.

The two positive cases are family members of the first COVID-19 patient who had passed away.

Till Thursday during the day, the positive cases remained at six.

It was established that the first COVID-19 positive case has 140 primary contacts and 4,000 secondary contacts.

There were 552 samples tested so far, out of which, 382 samples were tested since April 13 after the first CoVID-19 positive case was detected at Bethany hospital.

There were 372 samples tested negative, a medical bulletin issued on Thursday said.

The first COVID-19 death case was reported following the death of Dr John L Sailo Ryntathiang.

The number of 214 samples collected were from Bethany hospital alone, 270 samples collected from other institutions.

The test results for 178 samples is awaited.

Inpatients and attenders who have been asked to stay at Bethany hospital is 106 and the number of staff is 80.

The number of people who quarantined in corona care centres is 91.
