SHILLONG, Nov 5: Deputy Chief Ministers Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar have strongly rejected rumours of infighting within the NPP, calling reports of a rift “fake news” and “baseless”.
Tynsong said he was shocked to see claims of discord circulating in sections of social and mainstream media, alleging that vested interests were behind the misinformation. He urged those spreading such reports to verify facts before creating confusion. “We should not play dirty politics that misleads the people,” he cautioned.
Highlighting the party’s internal cohesion, Tynsong said the NPP functions like a family, resolving any issues through dialogue and unity at all levels.
Echoing the same sentiment, Dhar said he, Tynsong, and Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma remain “very united”. He described the NPP-led government as a “big and happy family” and criticised media outlets for circulating unverified reports.
On ticket distribution for the 2028 elections, Dhar said it was too early to discuss such matters and clarified that there are no plans to deny tickets to sitting MLAs. Confident of the party’s prospects, he asserted that the NPP would again secure a single majority.
