UDP may have acting chief for one month

Shillong Aug 2: The United Democratic Party which lost its president in the demise of Dr Donkupar Roy Dkhar, is likely to have an acting President till September when the general council of the party would be held to elect new office bearers of the Central Executive Committee (CEC).

Sources said that many opined that the party should have an acting President as of now and a full-fledged Party president should be elected in the upcoming general council of the party.

UDP leaders said that the CEC meeting held on June 14 which was chaired by Dr Donkupar had decided to elect new office bearers of the party in the general council to be held in Shillong on September 11.

“But everything would be decided together when party leaders meet next week,” sources said.

The names of senior most leader and nominated Member of the KHADC, Bindo M Lanong, former Minister and present Member of the KHADC, Paul Lyngdoh and former MLA, Jemino Mawthoh are doing the rounds for the top post in the UDP.
