Shillong, Mar 31, 2020: Meghalaya will get 300 life saving ventilators besides other medical equipments to fight the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
This was assured by Union Health Minister, Harsh Vardhan on Monday.
Meghalaya health minister, A L Hek said that the Union health minister had personally rang him on Monday afternoon and assured to provide all medical equipments and medicines to combat COVID-19 in the state.
“We have been assured of 300 life-saving ventilators, 5000 piece of N95 Masks and 1500 of Personal Protective Equipment,†Hek said.
On Sunday, Hek wrote to the Union Health Minister urging him to provide life-saving ventilators, personal protection equipments (PPE) and ambulances for various hospitals in the State to combat COVID-19.
Hek had said that 9 out of 11 districts in Meghalaya do not have life-saving ventilators.
So far, around 52 samples have been tested negative for COVID-19 and over 6,000 have been screened in the state.
