Shillong, Dec 6: Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju on Friday asked the people of the North eastern region not to worry as their concern over the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill is being addressed by the Centre.
Reacting to the strong opposition against the CAB, Rijiju told reporters that the CAB is already being discussed with the union home minister Amit Shah himself heard the views of the various groups of NE region.
Rijiju, who was attending the first North East Food Show held in the city here, said the basic concern of the indigenous people of the NE region are being addressed and being considered.
“When the CAB finally comes for discussion in the Parliament, it will become very clear that the indigenous people of the NE region are well protected and are given all kinds of support by the government of India. So there is nothing to worry,†he assured.
