Nongpoh, February 2, 2026: The three-day Unity Fest 2026, held at Umsning, concluded on a vibrant note on Saturday, drawing a large turnout of spectators, particularly during the much-anticipated Miss Umsning Constituency and Mrs Umsning Constituency beauty pageants.
The festival featured a variety of entertainment and cultural programmes, including dance competitions, musical performances by local singers, and a range of stalls showcasing food, crafts, and other attractions, creating a lively atmosphere throughout the event.
The beauty pageants highlighted the confidence, talent, and cultural pride of young women and married women from the Umsning Constituency, with participants presenting themselves in traditional Khasi attire and contemporary ensembles. Among the contestants, Babylon Lyngdoh was crowned Miss Umsning Constituency 2026. Ibalakyntiew Lapang secured the 1st Runner-Up position, while Mercyful Lyngkhoi was adjudged 2nd Runner-Up.
In the Mrs category, Barihun Kylla won the title of Mrs Umsning Constituency 2026, followed by Apsara Ripnar as 1st Runner-Up and Bansara Syiemlieh as 2nd Runner-Up.
The closing ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, with Dr David Lyngdoh, President of the Umsning People’s Front, attending as the Chief Guest. Other notable guests included Bipul Ryntathiang, President of the RBYF, Eddie G Kharbani, and Angelstar Khonghat, Rangbah Shnong of Umsning Proper A, along with other community leaders.
Organisers stated that Unity Fest 2026 was organised with a social objective, as part of the proceeds and efforts from the festival will go towards supporting Umsohlang LP & UP School at Umsning Umsohlang, reinforcing the event’s commitment to community development alongside entertainment.
