Nongpoh, 22 November 2025: The Umsning People’s Front (UPF), a newly formed political platform preparing for the 2028 MLA election in Umsning Constituency under the leadership of Dr. David Lyngdoh, successfully concluded its Super Cup Football Tournament 2025 at Umran Niangbyrnai ground today. The tournament, aimed at promoting sports among the youth and discouraging them from engaging in harmful activities, saw an impressive participation of 32 football teams.
The final match was played between Umran Niangbyrnai and Umran Diary, with both teams showcasing skill, strength and determination. The tightly contested game ended in a draw, with each side scoring a goal during regulation time. The match was then decided through a tie-breaker, where Umran Diary defeated Umran Niangbyrnai 5–4, securing the championship title.
The closing ceremony of the UPF Super Cup Football Tournament was graced by RB Shadap, President of RBDSA, as the chief guest. He was accompanied by UPF President Dr. David Lyngdoh, Sports Secretary Sumarlang Swer, CORP President Pateng Marsing, and several other dignitaries.
As part of the closing programme, UPF leaders distributed various individual achievement awards, including Best Goalkeeper, Best Player, and Top Scorer. The champion team, Umran Diary, received a cash prize of ₹1 lakh along with the winners’ trophy, while the runner-up team, Umran Niangbyrnai, was awarded ₹50,000.
The organisers reiterated that UPF was founded with a vision to empower young people, nurture sporting talent, and foster a positive environment in the region as it moves toward greater community engagement ahead of the 2028 elections.
