Shyntor Bulia, Dec 10: With the three-day Shyntor Bulia Festival just around the corner, residents of Shyntor Bulia village have united in a massive community effort to complete a long-pending bridge over the Wah Umsiang river. The bridge is vital for ensuring smooth movement for both festival-goers and local residents.
The structure connects the main festival grounds with other key locations in the village, areas that typically draw visitors from across the region. With thousands expected to attend this year’s celebrations, villagers recognised the need to expedite construction to ensure accessible and safe passage.

The initiative is being led by the Village Headman, who mobilised community labour to accelerate the project. He noted that the bridge had remained incomplete for an extended period, prompting villagers to contribute voluntarily through physical labour and material support.
Residents participating in the work said the bridge is not only crucial for the festival but will also significantly improve daily connectivity for the village. Wah Umsiang remains one of the area’s natural attractions, drawing tourists each year, and the completion of the bridge is expected to enhance local tourism and drive economic activity.
The collective effort highlights the community’s determination to ensure a successful festival while strengthening essential infrastructure for long-term benefit.
