‘Voice of Change’ enlightens people of Mawkynrew constituency to elect lawmaker
Shillong, Oct 15: “Voice of Change” a group of youth from Mawynrew Constituency is aggressively campaigning to the nooks and corners of the constituency to enlighten the people to elect their representative conscientiously in the upcoming Assembly election.
Led by headman of Jongksha village, Olet Kharsahnoh, “Voice of Change” has toured a number of villages in Mawkynrew Constituency and explained to people the value of votes and not to fall into the trap of money as rich candidates would try to purchase votes to win the election.
Last week, the Voice of Change organized a public meeting at ïewrynghep village on market day and urged the people to elect the representative who will make laws and policies for the constituency and the state, not just to represent the electorates.
“We need to have an MLA who can speak in Assembly and who should be the voice of the people of the constituency as well as who can take up problems of the people and bring out policies for the interest of the youth, the poor and all residents of the constituency,” the Voice of Change said.
On Saturday evening, a similar campaign was also organised by the Voice of Change at Mawkynrew village, where hundreds of villagers came to listen to the speakers.
The Voice of Change would tour other remaining villages in the constituency in the coming days to explain to the people about various problems being faced by the people in the Constituency, be it lack of health care facilities, policy for farmers, bad roads and decline in the economy.
