SHILLONG, MAR 31: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has officially announced Dr Batskhem Myrboh as its candidate for the upcoming by-election to the Shillong parliamentary constituency.

The decision was approved by the party’s State Executive Committee (SEC) on March 31, based on a recommendation from the State Election Committee.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, VPP spokesperson Dr Londoner Murphy Sohtun said the selection followed “thorough deliberations and consultations among party leaders.”

He added that Dr Myrboh was chosen for his “steadfast commitment to the party’s values and principles, public service, leadership qualities, and dedication to the welfare of the people.”

The party has called on its members and supporters to rally behind its candidate to secure victory in the bypoll.

“The party calls upon all party members, supporters, and well-wishers to extend their full support and cooperation to ensure a triumphant outcome in the upcoming by-election,” Sohtun said.
