Shillong Jan 25: The miner, whose body was retrieved from the coal mine at Khloo Ryngksan in East Jaiñtia Hills district has been identified as Amir Hussain on Friday.
Hussain was from Chirang district in Assam.
East Jaiñtia Hills district Deputy Commissioner, FM Dopth said that the body was identified by his wife and mother.
“Help is being organised how to transport the body to their residence,” he said.
The dead body was pulled out of the coal mine on Thursday and it was taken to Khliehriat community health centre to enable the relatives to identify the body.
The highly decomposed body was retrieved by the Indian Navy in collaboration with the NDRF after it was detected by the underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) of the Indian Navy from the main shaft on January 16.
Meanwhile spokesperson for the rescue operation, R. Susngi on Friday said that the Indian Navy continued their search in the main shaft to trace the trap miners with their ROV and as usual, the NDRF coordinated their assistance with other agencies with all available resources.
Susngi said that the Kirloskar resumed their work and the preparation to install their pump in one of the old shaft is going on.
The Ofisha fire service also operated their pump for one hour from 11am to 12noon and the total discharged of water was 90,000 litres .
The CIL pump out the water from two old shafts for a total of 30 hours and the total discharged was 34,02,000 litres .
The KSB operated their pump for pumping of water for 18.5 hours. The total discharge of water was approximately 36,63,000 litres.
Reportedly, 15 miners were trapped inside the flooded coal mine since December 13 last year.
